On September 27, 2023, H.E Hon. William Samoei Ruto, PhD, C.G.H, President of the Republic of Kenya and Commander-in-Chief of the Defence Forces officially opened the Nairobi International Trade fair.
NIA Board chairman Eng. Gilbert Maluki accompanied by Ag. Chief Executive Officer Eng. Charles Muasya and Ag. Deputy General Manager, Operation Mr. Joel Tanui and other senior officers at the Authority visited the NIA Nairobi International Trade fair Show stand.
The team appreciated the irrigation activities taking place in the stand including among others; urban kitchen gardens, rice production under basin irrigation system, different horticultural crops under drip irrigation system and Syntropic farming (an intensive form of agroforestry that imitates market gardening and slash and mulch agroforestry, in order to provide yields at all stages of succession, generate its own fertility, and with the end goal of creating a productive forest that imitates the structure and function of the native forests.
