PS VISIT TO IRRIGATION PROJECT IN MURANG’A COUNTY ON FEBRUARY 4, 2022

Principal Secretary Ministry of Water, Sanitation and Irrigation Joseph I. Wairagu CBS, accompanied by National Irrigation Authority CEO Mr. Gitonga Mugambi, EBS, senior officers from the Authority and other leaders on Friday 4,2022 toured Murang’a County to inspect the works done by National Irrigation Authority. During the tour, the PS launched Githembe Irrigation Water Projects, Boboti Kiamande Irrigation Project and Nyanjigi Irrigation Project.

Githembe Irrigation Project in Kigumo Constituency, Murang’a County is 98% complete and covers 50 acres. The proposed enterprises are high value commercial vegetables (Horticultural crops and Asian vegetables).

Boboti Kiamande Irrigation Project in kandara constituency is 95% complete and covers 50 acres. The Project is expected to directly benefit 150 households with high value commercial vegetables (Horticultural crops and Asian vegetables).

Nyanjigi Irrigation Project in Kangema constituency is 98% complete and covers 500 acres. The Project is directly benefiting 1,000 households.

He was pleased with the the works done in the region and promised the residents that the Government is committed to ensuring that all the projects are completed on time to enable every household access to water as envisioned in the Big 4 agenda.
