Board of Directors Visit to Galana Kulalu Model Farm
As part of their induction, the Authority’s Board of Directors visited Galana Kulalu Model farm on August 3, 2021. They were pleased with the progress of works in the model farm and the Chairman emphasized that the future of food security in Kenya can be realized through irrigated agriculture.
The second phase of Galana Kulalu is currently 30% complete and the remaining percentage expected to be complete within the contract period.
Currently, production activities are ongoing with maize being the main crop and bananas, mangoes, cotton, cashew nuts, citrus, palm and pineapples under trial. The trials are meant to provide data on performance of different crops to be shared to private players once the farm is opened to investors. This will help them invest wisely based on existing data from the trials.
