NIA ISSUES LAND COMPENSATION CHEQUES TO FARMERS.

On March 26, 2025, National Irrigation Authority (NIA) Chairman Eng. Gibert Maluki and Director CPA Samuel Onyango visited the Lower Kuja Irrigation Scheme.

They were accompanied by NIA senior management, led by CEO Eng. Charles Muasya, MBS. The delegation inspected the Lower Kuja Irrigation Project Phase II before proceeding to the scheme’s offices.

While at the scheme office, together with the Nyatike MP, Hon. Odege Tom Mboya, presented land compensation cheques to farmers in the first phase of the compensation exercise, which will continue until all eligible farmers are fully compensated.
The chairman encouraged the farmers to utilize the compensation funds wisely for personal development and reinvestment in farming.

He also emphasized the importance of effectively using the installed irrigation infrastructure to enhance rice production, create employment, and improve livelihoods in the Lower Kuja region, thereby contributing to the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BeTA).
