NIA PARTICIPATES AT THE 8TH EDITION OF THE KAPTAGAT RESTORATION AND LIVELIHOOD IMPROVEMENT PROGRAMME AT KAPTAGAT GIRLS HIGH SCHOOL.
Today, the National Irrigation Authority CEO, Eng. Charles Muasya, MBS, accompanied by the Deputy General Manager, Planning, Eng. Jairus Serede, and other NIA staff, joined His Excellency the President, Hon. William Samoei Ruto, PhD., C.G.H., at the 8th Edition of the Kaptagat restoration and livelihood improvement programme at Kaptagat Girls High School, Uasin Gishu County.
The event was also graced by the Deputy President H.E Rigathi Gachagua, Prime CS, Hon. Musalia Mudavadi, several Principal Secretaries and Chief Executive Officers of various State Corporations.
The National Irrigation Authority contributed 10,000 grafted Hass avocado fruit tree seedlings for distribution to the community neighboring Kaptagat Forest, with the aim of increasing tree cover as well as contribute towards food security.
The National Irrigation Authority is committed to contributing towards the mission of planting at least 15 billion trees by 2032, in order to increase the forest cover by 30% and mitigate the effects of climate change.
