Mr. Gilbert Bwire Wangalwa was appointed to the Board on July 20, 2026, through Gazette Notice Vol. CXXVIII—No. 120 dated July 17, 2026. He holds a Master of Business Administration (Strategic Management) from Daystar University, a Master of Public Health (Management of Health Systems and Services) from Maseno University and a Bachelor of Arts in Economics and Mathematics from Egerton University. He is also a certified Executive Coach.
Mr. Wangalwa is a purpose-driven executive, entrepreneur, certified executive coach and author with over 20 years of leadership experience in strategy, organizational transformation, systems strengthening, business development and executive management across Africa. He is recognised for his expertise in strategic leadership, organisational development, programme management, business development, governance and executive coaching.
His career spans the non-governmental, development and private sectors, where he has held senior leadership positions including Deputy Country Director, Chief of Party, Monitoring & Evaluation Advisor and Monitoring & Evaluation Manager at Amref Health Africa in Kenya, as well as Monitoring & Evaluation Specialist at Pathfinder International.
His achievements include providing strategic leadership for large-scale donor-funded programmes notably USAID, strengthening organisational systems and monitoring and evaluation frameworks at Amref Health Africa in Kenya and Pathfinder International, advancing health systems across Kenya and contributing to research through several peer-reviewed publications. He is also the author of three books on leadership, personal growth and wealth creation and is passionate about mentoring leaders and building sustainable enterprises.
His extensive leadership experience, strategic insight and commitment to organisational excellence will be valuable to the Board as it steers the institution towards realizing its mandate in line with the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA).
