INDUCTION OF DIRECTOR SIMON NGUGI

The Board of Directors of the National Irrigation Authority, led by the Chairman, Eng. Gilbert Maluki, together with representatives from Senior Management, led by Eng. Charles Muasya, MBS, is pleased to announce the induction of Director Simon Ngugi, who joins the Board as the farmers’ representative in line with the Irrigation Act 2019.

The induction was held today at the Authority’s Headquarters, where Director Ngugi was formally welcomed and presented with key institutional documents including: The Constitution of Kenya (2010), Irrigation Act (2019), Strategic Plan 2023–2027, Mwongozo Code of Governance, State Corporations Act (2015), and the NIA Code of Conduct and Ethics for Directors following his appointment vide Gazette Notice No. 11224, Vol. CXXVII – No. 173 dated August 15, 2025.

He was also briefed on the Authority’s mandate, ongoing programs, and strategic priorities. His induction reflects NIA’s commitment to good governance and the effective integration of new Board members.

As the farmers’ representative, Director Ngugi is expected to play a vital role in championing farmers’ interests, strengthening stakeholder engagement, and supporting improved service delivery in the irrigation sector.
