PS NATIONAL TREASURY DR. CHRIS KIPTOO INSPECTS THE GALANA KULALU FOOD SECURITY PROJECT

Today the PS National Treasury Dr. Chris Kiptoo inspected the Galana Kulalu Food Security Project in Kilifi and Tana River counties. He was accompanied PS, State Department for Irrigation, CPA Ephantus Kimotho, CBS, the Irrigation Secretary for Land Reclamation, Climate Resilience and Irrigation, Mr. Joel Tanui, the CEO of the National Irrigation Authority, Eng. Charles Muasya, MBS along with other government officials and representatives from the private investor.

The project is making significant strides with key infrastructure already in place. This includes the 50% completed Galana Bridge, new water intake systems, a lined canal, and a reservoir that is actively being used for irrigation. PS Kiptoo was highly impressed with the progress, noting that the project demonstrates “value for money” and smart investment. He commended the Ministry of Water, Sanitation and Irrigation, as well as the National Irrigation Authority, for their outstanding work.

The PS also emphasized the Government’s unwavering commitment to unlocking the project’s full potential. This initiative is a cornerstone of the Government’s Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BeTA) and is poised to play a crucial role in enhancing our nation’s food security.
