The Governor was accompanied by Hon. Hemed Mwabudzo CEC for Water, Hon. Michael Mutua, CEC for Trade, the County Secretary Hon. Sylvia Leli among other officials.

The Governor and her team appreciated the authority for the commendable work done in Kwale County especially under Irrigation Water Harvesting Programme where eight community water pans have been done and are currently being used by the locals for irrigation and other domestic needs.

She also appreciated the good working relationship between NIA officers and the Kwale county staff and requested for continued collaboration so as to jointly support implementation of irrigation projects in the County to improve the livelihood of residents as espoused in the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA).

The CEO and NIA team committed to continue the collaboration to expand area under irrigation and support food production in the County. The teams agreed to form a joint technical working team to FastTrack implementation of ongoing irrigation projects in the county. The team will also work together to identify other future irrigation projects to be implemented in the county.

The Authority is committed to implementing its mandate of irrigation development across the country for food security and social economic empowerment of Kenyans.
