CONSULTATIVE MEETING STAKEHOLDERS INVOLVED IN THE BURA IRRIGATION AND SETTLEMENT SCHEME.
Today, the National Irrigation Authority led by CEO Eng. Charles Muasya, MBS, and the management convened a consultative meeting with key stakeholders involved in the Bura Irrigation and Settlement Scheme.
The meeting brought together Tana River County Governor H.E. Maj. (Rtd) Dr. Dhadho Gaddae Godhana, Women Rep Hon. Abdullahi Amina Dika, Bura Constituency Hon. Yakub Adow Kuno, Galole Constituency Hon. Said Buya Hiribae and representatives of some of the investors keen to undertake production in the scheme.
They addressed the presidential directive to commercialize the Bura scheme through Public-Private Partnerships (PPPs) where the discussions centred on the proposed PPP framework, approaches to enhance stakeholder collaboration and sustainable operation and maintenance of the scheme.
The initiative seeks to optimize land utilization, boost Kenya’s food security and stimulate economic growth in Tana River County as espoused in the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA). Subsequent meetings will be held to ensure all the players are on boarded as the Authority seeks to realize the scheme’s full potential.
