Personal Profile

Mr. Simon Ngugi Mwihaki was appointed to the Board of Directors through Gazette Notice No. 11224, Vol. CXXVII – No. 173 on August 15, 2025. He brings extensive experience in governance, leadership and community development.

Most notably, Mr. Mwihaki is a farmer having been among the first beneficiaries and adopters of the Household Irrigation Water Harvesting Programme in Ndeiya, Kiambu in 2018 where he grows high-value crops such as onions, tomatoes, kales, cabbages among others. He also farms in Kimana, Kajiado County, focusing on maize, beans and dairy.

His leadership background spans public and non-governmental institutions, with notable roles including:

  1. Former Director at the National Water Harvesting and Storage Authority, where he oversaw strategic direction, governance, and financial management.
  2. Chairman of National Government – Constituency Development   Fund ( NG-CDF) Kikuyu Constituency.
  3. Chairman of the Kenya Rural Roads Authority (KeRRA) Kikuyu Constituency Roads Committee, driving local development projects.
  4. Member of Wamoro Irrigation Water Users Association (IWUA)
  5. Member of Marengeta Irrigation Water Users Association (IWUA).

As a Farmers’ Representative, Mr. Mwihaki’s diverse leadership experience and community engagement positions him to effectively advocate for farmers’ needs. His insights will help shape irrigation policies, programs, and investments that promote sustainable agricultural growth and food security, aligning with the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BeTA)

He is currently pursuing a Diploma in Business Management at St. Paul’s University and has additional training in computer applications.

With his unique blend of experience and commitment to community development, Mr. Mwihaki is poised to make a meaningful impact at the National Irrigation Authority.
