NIA Unveils 2024/25 PC Results and Signs 2025/26 Contracts, Targets Higher Excellence

Today, the National Irrigation Authority Chief Executive Officer, Eng. Charles Muasya, MBS, presided over the signing of the cascaded Performance Contracts (PCs) for the 2025/2026 Financial Year. The exercise brought together Senior Management, Scheme Managers and Regional Coordinators, marking a key milestone in the Authority’s performance management cycle.

During the event, the CEO also officially released the 2024/2025 Performance Contract results. The Authority attained a composite score of 2.4491 – rated ‘Very Good’ by the Public Service Performance Management Unit, missing the ‘Excellent’ mark by a narrow margin of 0.04.

The CS assured residents that the government, through the National Irrigation Authority, is taking immediate steps to restore the damaged systems and ensure continuity of agricultural activities. He further reaffirmed the Ministry’s commitment to safeguarding livelihoods through sustainable irrigation development and climate-resilient infrastructure.

The Irrigation Infrastructure Development Directorate led by Eng. Loise W. Kahiga emerged top among all contractees and was awarded a trophy for securing the 1st position.

Reaffirming the principle that “what gets measured, gets done,” the CEO commended staff across all levels for their commitment and delivery of PC targets, which collectively contributed to the strong overall performance. He encouraged the team to sustain this momentum and strive for an even better rating in the 2025/26 PC cycle.

The Authority remains steadfast in its mandate to expand irrigated agriculture, strengthen food and nutrition security and support sustainable livelihoods. These efforts are aligned with Kenya Vision 2030, the Irrigation Act (Cap. 347), the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA), and the Authority’s Strategic Plan (2023–2027).
