CS COMMISSIONS MACHINERY IRRIGATION PROJECT AND MAWINGO IRRIGATION WATER PROJECT
The CS Ministry of Water, Sanitation and Irrigation Sicily K. Kariuki (Mrs), E.G.H commissioned Machinery Irrigation Project and Mawingo Irrigation Water Project in Kipipiri constituency, Nyandarua County on January 31, 2022. She was accompanied by the area MP and Leader of Majority in the National Assembly Hon. Amos Kimunya and the Deputy County Commissioner Edwin Chabari. She was received by National Irrigation Authority’s Chief Engineer Eng. Loise Kahiga and other senior government officials.
Machinery Irrigation Project in Kipipiri ward, Nyandarua County has an acreage of 150 acres and is expected to benefit 300 household farmers. High value commercial vegetables are the main crops to be grown in the region.
The project is 99% complete and consists of a drilled borehole to a depth of 308meters, 51 solar panels , storage steel pressed tank(24m3), and production yeild of 20m3/hr. The expected income is ksh 90,000 per acre and therefore the project is expected to pay back within one 1 year.
Mawingo Irrigation Water Project in Kipipiri constituency, Nyandarua County, Githoiro ward has an acreage of 150 acres and is expected to benefit 415 household and a school population. High value commercial crops (horticultural crops and Asian vegetables) are the main crops to be grown in the region.
The project is 99% complete and consists of a drilled borehole to a depth of 195 meters, 38 solar panels , storage steel pressed tank(24m3), and production yield of 50m3/hr (artisan well).The expected income is ksh 90,000 per acre and therefore the project is expected to pay back within one 1 year.
The CS was pleased with the implementation of the projects. She notified the farmers that the Authority will train them on the best farming practices so that they can fully benefit from the project as the government continues to implement projects meant to realize the Big 4 Agenda.
